The school is home to one National Defense Key Laboratory and seven other laboratories and institutes that give support to the entire research work of the school.

During the past several years, the School of Life Sciences has undertaken more than 120 research projects (provincial level or above, more than 60 items), including 3 “National Basic Research Program of China (973 program)” (1 project and 2 sub-project), 10 "National High-tech R&D Program of China (863 program)” (including a key grant project and a key sub-project) and 29 “National Natural Science Foundation of China”. It has published more than 300 papers, in which more than 80 articles have been indexed by the SCI, and more than 20 by the EI. Furthermore, more than 40 patents have been authorized.
